Popups are windows that appear, typically unsolicited, when you activate a web browser. These are typically advertisements or requests to download some software that may contain viruses or programs that could be destructive to your computer.

Privacy & Security Preferences - Popup Windows: This section describes how to use the Popup Windows preferences panel. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the Edit menu and choose Preferences.

  2. Under the Privacy & Security Preferences category, click Popup Windows. (If no subcategories are visible, double-click Privacy & Security to expand the list.)

  3. Click the box that says Block unrequested popup windows.

  4. Click the "Allow Sites" button.

  5. Select the Remove All button to remove default sites from menu.

  6. In the form, type in any sites that you would like to allow popups.

  7. Click Add.
  8. Click Ok.
  9. Popups should now only appear from the sites you have allowed when you use Netscape 7.1 for web browsing
