Faculty and Staff
You will need your userID and password for HRMS Self Service. If you do not have your HRMS Self Service userID, contact the Help Desk at 935-5707.
- After signing into HRMS, click on Self Service
- Click on Personal and Paycheck Data
- Click on Personal
- Click on Preferred First Name (or click on Personal Information Summary, then Update Preferred First Name) Your current Preferred First Name is displayed, if you have one.
- Leave it as is or enter your Preferred First Name (e.g. Fred instead of Frederick; Liz instead of Elizabeth, Bill instead of William, etc.) and click on Save
- The Preferred First Name will be immediately updated in both the HRMS and in the University email Address system
- Next, click on Update email Address in the Personal Information Summary page
- Click on the University email Address link. A new University email page will be displayed.
- Follow the instructions to select your new University email address. Of course, you can keep the one that has been assigned if you'd like.
Remember that you will be able to select a new University email address only one time.
Students
Students access their University email address and information about the University email address via WebSTAC
- Click on the menu item New University email System.
- To modify the assigned University email address, click on the menu item Modify Your University email Address. Note: you are not required to make any modification
Some Important notes:
- Within WebSTAC, students also have the opportunity to select a nickname. If you select a nickname, it will appear among the system generated name configurations that one may select from to change the assigned University email name.
- Just like faculty and staff, students will have only one opportunity to change the assigned name, so they should select carefully.
- The University email address will appear in the Web-based directory and the TERNION; the local email address will appear in WebSTAC and WebFAC.
- Your @wustl.edu address will not be active until several hours after you change it. If the new @wustl.edu address does not work after 4 hours, please email us.
Change your mail client to show your new @wustl.edu address as the return address on your outgoing email
