Get The Most Out of Firefox

How can I protect passwords I save in Firefox?

Most users have many different passwords for each website. Firefox can remember your passwords and most people use the Password Manager to remember a password. However, your passwords are not secure because Firefox will show them to you.

You can use a master password. A master password is used to protect sensitive information like site passwords. If you create a Master Password you will be asked to enter it once per session when Firefox retrieves saved information protected by the password.

  1. Go to "Tools > Options" in the menu bar.
  2. Click on the "Security" icon on the top.
  3. Click “Use a Master password”
  4. Just enter your desired password, preferably something strong - random numbers and letters, and make sure it's something you'll remember without having to write it down. Click "OK." When you restart Firefox, you must now enter the master password before you can view that list of passwords. Also, Firefox will ask for your master password before automatically entering your passwords on websites.

I accidentally clicked "Never for this site" when Firefox asked if I want to save a password. How do I change this so it WILL remember my password?

  1. Go to "Tools > Options" in the menu bar.
  2. Click on the "Security" icon on the top.
  3. Click on the "Exceptions" button near the bottom.
  4. Select the password that you want Firefox to remember and click "Remove".
  5. Click "Close" when you're done

If you want to delete a password it did save, Click on Show Passwords in Step 3.
