Arts & Sciences Computing provides email accounts to current students, faculty, and staff in Arts & Sciences.
Transfers
Only faculty and staff in Arts & Sciences have @artsci email accounts. If you transfer to a department outside A&S, your @artsci email account will be closed. A list of Arts & Sciences departments may be found here.
Leaving the University (Non-Retirement)
Faculty and staff who leave the university may retain their @artsci email accounts for up to 6 months. The exact length of time is determined at the discretion of the department, but the length cannot exceed 6 months.
Retirement
Retired faculty and staff may retain their @artsci email accounts for up to 2 years, again at the discretion of the department.
Emeritus Faculty retain their @artsci email address for life.
We receive a list of active students who are eligible for an email account from the Office of Student Records. When a student's status at the university changes, we automatically send an email notification with a title similar to "Important! Your artsci account is scheduled for deletion".
Reasons Your Account May Be Deleted:
You Graduated
Alumni @artsci accounts expire approximately 90 days after graduation. [ more about alumni accounts ]
If you GRADUATED AND BECAME AN EMPLOYEE, you must be employed in an Arts & Sciences department to retain your @artsci email account. A list of Arts & Sciences departments may be found here. If you are in an A&S department and received an email that your account was scheduled to be deleted, just send us an email with your 6 digit employee ID number (not your Social Security Number) and your department so we can change your status in our records.
University College But Not in a Degree Program
University College students are only provided a named email account if they are enrolled in a degree program. You can contact University College to obtain a numbered account. Numbered accounts expire at the end of each semester.
You Are On Leave
Most students on leave have an inactive status in Student Records and are not eligible to retain their email accounts. If you are on leave and believe that you should be eligible to retain your email account, you will need to talk to a Dean in your school (A&S or the Graduate School) about updating your student record to show an acceptable leave. Undergraduates can visit the Dean of the Day in the College Office. Arts & Sciences Computing cannot change your status.
