Access the Wireless Network with Windows XP/Vista

1. For Windows XP, Click on Start, then Control Panel. Once Control Panel opens, skip to step 3.

2. For Windows Vista (screen shots below will be slightly different for Windows Vista) , you click on Start, 'Connect to', then look for WUFI. If WUFI is there, then go to step 7. If you get a message, then skip to step 6 below.

3. Click on the Network Connections icon
4. Find the the Wireless Icon.
5. Right click the Wireless icon and choose ‘View Available Wireless Networks’.

6. If you see a message in the window saying that Windows cannot configure this wireless connection, then there is some other software that is controlling your wireless card and how it connects to the network. Go through all of your programs and look for some other wireless software such as ‘Intel PROSet Wireless’ or something similar. In this case, you will need to use the wireless software that came with your laptop to ‘connect’ to the WUFI network. Then skip to step 7 below.

7. Look for WUFI and then click the connect button.

8. Once the Wireless icon says it is connected, open up a Web Browser such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.

9. You should be redirected to the Login page. If not, then you may want to clear out your browser cache. To clear out the cache, please see our following webpage: http://computing.artsci.wustl.edu/help/202

10. If you are directed to a page that warns about a problem with the website’s Security Certificate, click on the link below the message that says ‘Continue to this website (not recommended)’.

11. For an ArtSci account your login will be your ArtSci email username followed by @artsci. You will drop the ‘.wustl.edu’ part of your email. The password is your ArtSci email password. The directions on the login page are specific and must be followed very carefully.

12. After you log in, you are set to use wireless for the next four hours. After four hours, you will be prompted to log in again.
