Preparation
- System Disks: While installing the dialing software, you will probably be asked to insert the appropriate setup diskette or CD-ROM into your computer in order for Windows XP drivers to install correctly.
- Telephone Line: You will need a standard telephone line in order to dial into the Arts & Sciences Modem Bank.
Note: You cannot talk on the telephone and be connected to the Internet at the same time if you have only one telephone line. Having two telephone handsets is not indicative of two telephone "lines". Contact Southwestern Bell to get another line installed if you so wish.
If you have call waiting, an incoming call will disconnect you from the Internet. This can be extraordinarily frustrating because you may be in the middle of a long download - which you'll have to start all over again later. To disable call waiting, type *70 (off campus) or #50 (on campus) prior to dialing.
