Below are some instructions on how to filter those messages tagged with *WU-SPAM*. Before filtering, it is important to understand the risks. There is always a very small possibility that a good message will be marked as SPAM. So any filtering does risk having a good message deleted.
WebMail and Pine customers:
- Go to http://artsci.wustl.edu/ssh
- Follow the instructions to login
- At the prompt, type: junkfilter
- Let junkfilter install
- Type exit
Mozilla Thunderbird and Netscape Mail:
- Open Netscape Mail
- Go to the Tools Menu and select Message Filters
- Click New
- Filter name: WU-SPAM
- Select "Match all of the following"
- Select Subject contains and enter: *WU-SPAM*
- Select your desired Action. Delete is near the bottom of the action list.
Outlook:
- Open Outlook
- Select Inbox in your folder listing
- Go to the Tools menu and select Rules Wizard
- Click New
- Select Start creating a rule based on a template
- Select Move messages based on content
- Select with specific words in subject or body
- At bottom, click on Specific Words.
- Type in *WU-SPAM* and click Add
- At bottom, click specified
- Open Personal Folders and select Deleted Items
