When transitioning to a new computer, it is important to import the data from your old computer. You'll need to transfer your personal files, email (if it is stored locally), address book, and bookmarks to a CD, network drive, or other portable storage device. You should periodically back-up your files in case of a hard-drive failure, and the back-up process is the same when transitioning to a new machine.
