Past Questions From the Help Desk

How do I connect to the campus wireless network from my mobile device?

We recommend using the secure wireless connection, WUFI-S. Instructions for connecting to WUFI-S from a smartphone or tablet are available on our website here.

I have heard that Telesis is going away and Blackboard is replacing it. How will faculty move their Telesis materials?

Washington University recently purchased a site-wide license for the Blackboard course management system.

There is a plan for transitioning Arts & Sciences from Telesis to Blackboard. For the upcoming fall 2011 semester, there will be a small pilot group of users in A&S. Barring any big problems, Blackboard will be opened up for all of Arts & Sciences as an option in the spring 2012 semester. Telesis will remain available during that term. The plan is to have everyone moved over to Blackboard by fall 2012.

Content from existing Telesis courses will be moved into the Blackboard system to make the transition smoother. There will still be some initial setup and training for instructors to get started in Blackboard. The iTeach Symposium planned for January, 2012 will feature Blackboard workshops and training sessions.

The project is being led by the Office of the Provost. Look for more news from that office in the future as the pilot progresses.
