Arts & Sciences Computing recommends and supports Thunderbird (http://www.mozilla.com/thunderbird/) or webmail (http://artsci.wustl.edu/webmail). While these directions should set up a basic configuration in Microsoft Outlook 2010, further support may not be available.
Before continuing you will need a valid artsci account (username and password) and your @wustl email address.
Open Outlook. If this is the first time you are setting up Outlook for your computer the outlook wizard should automatically pop up.
If you don't see it right away, go to the File tab and click Account settings.

Select Add Account.
At the bottom of the screen, select Manually configure server settings or additional server types and click Next.
Select Internet E-mail and click Next.
Use the settings shown below substituting your own account name in place of "jdoe". Important: Be sure to choose Account Type: IMAP. This will ensure your message remain on the server and can be accessed from other computers such as your office computer, a mobile device, or a public computer at a library or in a lab. Choosing POP is not recommended.

Incoming mail server (IMAP) is: artsci.wustl.edu.
Outgoing mail server (SMTP) is: artsci.wustl.edu.
NOTE: If you are using another internet service provider, such as a cable modem or DSL, use the outgoing mail server address they provide for you. If you are unsure of what this is contact your internet service provider.
Fill in your Artsci E-mail username and password and then click the "More Settings ..." button.
In the "Internet E-mail Settings" dialog box, select the Advanced tab.
Under "Incoming Server (IMAP), next to "Use the following type of encrypted connection:," choose SSL.
Under "Outgoing Server (SMTP), next to "Use the following type of encrypted connection:," choose TLS.
Under Root folder path enter: mail Click OK.

Click Next and Finish.
To add your artsci Inbox to the top favorite folders list in Outlook:
Expand the artsci.wustl.edu mail folders and right click Inbox.
Choose Add to Favorite Folders.
