Humanities Digital Workshop

The Humanities Digital Workshop (HDW) offers training, research support, and infrastructure support to faculty interested in pursuing digital methodologies in their research. They also provide opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to participate in research projects led by Washington University faculty.

Sciences & Research Technology

The Sciences IT professionals provide specialized technology-oriented solutions to faculty, staff and students of the science departments. We provide support to the departments of Biology, Chemistry, Earth & Planetary Sciences, Math, Physics, and Psychology.

Social Sciences Computing

Social Sciences Computing is dedicated to providing technology service and solutions for our supported departments' academic pursuits. We provide computer labs in Seigle Hall with specialized software geared for the needs of students in the Social Sciences. All Faculty and Staff in the Social Sciences have card swipe access to the Social Science Computing's Reserved Lab.

Research Infrastructure Services

Research Infrastructure Services includes access to a scientific computer cluster and data storage platform.  The compute service is available to all WashU faculty, staff, or students involved in research.  In addition, all faculty involved in research have access to 5TB of free active storage. (Faculty can request access to their storage be given to staff, or students involved in their research.) Base system includes 5,000 Intel Cascade Lake Cores ,120 Nvidia Telsa V100 GPUs, 300TB DDN high-performance scratch space, and 100Gbit Mellanox HDR Network

Arts & Sciences Condo

In addition to the RIS general use compute nodes described above, A&S has a condo of additional nodes that are available exclusively for use by all faculty, staff and students who apply for and are granted access to the general compute cluster. 
 

How to request an account on the compute cluster:

Have your department number and Workday Cost Center as these are required entries on the form.

Open a ticket with the RIS

  1. Select Request Support
  2. Login with your wustl key
  3. Select Scientific Compute platform (left menu) then Activate Compute Services

If you have not requested access to storage in the past then the 5TB of space will be allocated when your compute account is setup.
